Because of back problems over a number of years, I had lost the confidence to exercise. I heard about the Bridge4 physiotherapist-led Fundamentals programme and decided to give it a try. It’s fantastic. I immediately felt I was in safe hands. In a small group, I have been coached to exercise in a way which compensates for my back problems. Whenever I struggle or am unsure, the physios and trainers will change exercises to suit me and they give me the reassurance that I will not injure myself.

In just four months, I have progressed to Bridge45 classes, my posture and strength is much better and I feel great. I love the non-competitive, non-threatening nature of the club. I also know that if I have problems physiotherapists are on-hand.

I have always used gyms but not these types of class before. I gave Bridge4 a try and I love it. I do the Bridge 45 heart rate monitored class every week. We have different abilities and we all get on really well. The classes are well planned and varied and have helped me to train with greater intensity. The heart rate monitor system gives instant feedback on my performance and helps me to push myself, which I really like.

Their catch line is that it is a different kind of gym, and it really is.

I don’t do gyms – not my thing, but as I hit 30 I realised the effects of my social life were taking a hit on me! Despite being an active horse rider I realised I was getting out of condition.

Bridge4 is not a typical gym. As soon as I walked in It was so friendly. You are not left to your own devices. I have had great instruction and hands on help from qualified physios, helping me build the confidence to do really intensive exercise. I love the comerarderie of exercising together in small groups. And I get to wear a heart rate monitor, which is fun and makes me work harder!

I have lost inches round my middle and feel really great. Never thought going to the gym could be such fun!
